A Dual Slant-Polarized Cylindrical Array of Tightly Coupled Dipole Antennas

This study proposes a design of low-profile ultra wide-band cylindrical antenna array with plus/minus 45-degree dual polarization. The proposed compact produces an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the azimuth plane to cover all directions. It consists $20\times 4$ dual-polarized elements within diameter 131 mm and height 116 mm. are tightly coupled slant-polarized wideband dipole antennas, hence, rotational symmetry patterns horizontal is achieved for two orthogonal polarizations. Furthermore, metasurface structure has been designed placed over interconnected achieve ultrawideband capabilities. provides less than −10 dB reflection coefficient frequency band between 1.7 GHz 5.9 GHz. cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) 15 at boresight plane. electromagnetic characteristics its corresponding planar before bending have evaluated compared via simulations, verified by measurements. size, lightweight, printable enable low-cost manufacturing ease installation. overcomes many challenges encountered MIMO systems covering entire sub-6 while providing wide 360-degree coverage plane, supporting multibeam applications.
